Hillmorton U9 Juniors vs Hockley Heath U9

Hillmorton found themselves frustrated following an entertaining match in which we couldn’t find the back of the net, despite so much effort put in by the players.
The match started very evenly with both teams passing the ball with confidence, unable to pick out a decisive pass that would lead to a clear goal scoring opportunity.
Hockley Heath took the lead 10 minutes in. An excellent corner was played into a packed box and a touch diverted into the net.
We almost equalised immediately, some good passing got us into the box and the Hockley Heath keeper made two excellent saves to deny Riley and Paddy.
The ball was then given away at the edge of Hillmorton’s box and Hockley Heath were able to score a second. They added another just before half time with a good finish.
In the second half, Hillmorton took the game to Hockley Heath, working hard to try and get back into the game. We created numerous goal scoring opportunities but just couldn’t finish on this occasion.
Such was the intent to get back in the game, we lost our shape a bit. Possession was lost deep in our half and Hockley Heath overloaded us and added a final goal.
The boys have done so well recently and showed the same intensity and commitment we’ve seen in recent wins, we just couldn’t make it count this time and we’re punished for mistakes we made. There were some excellent passing moves during both halves.
MoTM went to Felipe. Once again playing in centre midfiels with real maturity, covering, supporting and bringing others into the game.
We go again next week…
